At Scenic City Learning, there are no contracts or long-term commitments. Schedule ongoing tutoring or simply book a session when your child needs extra help with homework, an upcoming test, a difficult concept, or a little academic reset.
Need me this week but not next week? That’s completely fine.

Amanda “Mandi” Thurmond, M.Ed.
Mandi is a licensed teacher with a master’s in education and 18 years in elementary classrooms. She has been the literacy lead, the curriculum developer, the intervention teacher — the person a school calls when a child needs a clearer path.
Scenic City Learning is that same care, one student at a time, in her Red Bank home. Warm, practical, and stubbornly encouraging.

How much does it cost?
$40 per hour, one-on-one. No packages. You pay for the time you book.
Do I have to book every week?
No. There are no contracts or long-term commitments. Schedule ongoing tutoring or book a session when your child needs extra help — homework, a test, a hard concept, or a reset. Need Mandi this week but not next week? That’s completely fine.
What grades do you work with?
Kindergarten through 8th grade. Reading, math, writing, homework and study skills, test prep, and enrichment for accelerated students.
Do you work with accelerated students?
Yes. If classroom work is already easy, we stretch: deeper reading, richer math, stronger writing — not more of the same worksheet. Same $40/hour, same Red Bank house, still K–8.
What should we bring?
Your child. A current book, a math page, a teacher note — whether they’re stuck or already ahead. Mandi has materials either way.
Where do we park / how do we arrive?
Sessions are at Mandi’s home in Red Bank. After you book, she shares the address and simple arrival notes (where to park and which door). The street address is not listed on this website.
How long is a session?
Sessions are typically one hour at $40. If your child needs a shorter or longer block for a specific day, text Mandi and she will say what she can do.
What if we need to cancel or weather is bad?
Text (929) 256-3772 as soon as you know you cannot make it. Same-day changes are fine. For ice, severe storms, or school closures that affect the roads, Mandi will text to reschedule — same if she needs to cancel. If the hour is missed with no text, the hour is still $40.
